Sounds like we need Frankie on the pitch. I must say Tom Smith has done very little since the Chippenham game. Would he be better through the middle? But who would then play on the right?

A bit humiliating now. Can’t remember. Weston doing comfortable double over us.

Yep. 4 points from 3 'winnable' games. Now Hampton, Braintree and a resurgent Whitehawk.

WSM are a decent side. Their manager has managed to get a team out of our cast offs.
That is two duff performances on the trot. Work needs to be done.

I think we can forget about the playoffs now, in fact we might do well to finish above halfway. That Saturday at Chippenham seems a long time ago now, and their form since has called into question how good a result it actually was.
Look forward to JG’s post match comments.

There’s always the Somerset Cup to add some gloss to the season.

I was there tonight and it all seemed very flat. I am not sure of the reason. Ok WSM are a decent side but something wasn't quite right tonight and there seemed a real lack of desire. Tom Smith doesn't look half the player he was in his first loan spell. Why is Oaklan Buck not getting a look in. If I was him I would be getting quite frustrated. Surely at 3-1 down he should have been given a chance?

I was really excited by his return but he has not lived up to expectations.
We really, really need Watto back. I know he didn't play at Chipp but he is a catalyst. He will offer more to Semenya than Jarvis.
Having said that the only reason Frankie didn't play was because of the accident on the M4. It is when he is missing that you notice him most.

Re: WSM 4 v. City 2 (Smith 50, Case 90) full time
We were poor but what about the officials?
The first goal came directly from a throw conceded, albeit at the other end of the pitch, where Tom Smith attempted to go down the line and make some space for a cross but was effectively obstructed by the linesman who was on his shoulder and so refused to allow Tom the space. Perhaps Tom should've asked permission to go off the pitch, or maybe sign the linesman on as a player.
And then the ref seemed to have his own interpretation of the rule whereby a player has to leave the field following treatment.
In the first half Naby Diallo had treatment, went off and then immediately came back on before the game had been restarted by their keeper, with the kick-out going to him.
Then in second half their nr 2 had treatment on their six yard line and then was allowed to saunter his way up field without the nicety of a visit to the touchline.

Could be wrong but I was under the impression that the referee has complete discretion now on whether or not players should leave the field. Batten was certainly back on before play restarted at one point so it wasn't totally one way in that regard.
The referee was poor though. Not that it had an effect on the outcome, we were poorer.

Referee was James Durkin, son of Paul, well-known former Premier League and international referee.

Re: WSM 4 v. City 2 (Smith 50, Case 90) full time
I stand corrected. Have just spoken to a colleague who is a qualified ref.
The rule is if a player has treatment as a result of a foul and the player who caused the foul receives a red or yellow card then the player having the treatment remains on the pitch.
If there is no red or yellow then the player having treatment has to leave the pitch.
