Re: FA Cup fever!
I haven't really enjoyed their coverage of it in the past few years. I find it a bit patronising. I'll just keep an eye on the FA site I think.
Wrote down draws I'd be happy with and it's ludicrously low. Seven happy, 19 not, nine meh. I've listed some as 'very unhappy' (likes of Dover, Havant, Ebbsfleet, Boreham Wood etc).

Can't understand why anyone would ever normally listen to Talksport but I will tune in log on as it is quite exciting waiting for us to get drawn out.

Re: FA Cup fever!
I agree it's usually awful, especially as they tend to draw the northern half first and then really rub our noses into it by going to 30 minutes of adverts. So tune in log on at around 5!

Caved in and tuned in three minutes ago thinking they'd be halfway through the northern draw at least. They were still jabbering on and now it's endless ads.
Just bring back Graham Kelly, don't faff around and put us out of our misery. This is painful.

Re: FA Cup fever!
At least Stubbs rattled through that bit quickly (probably to prevent his voice going). Colin Murray used to waffle on for ages.
It's ok, at least it's home where we have a decent record against them, bar the other week. They're not firing on all cylinders at the moment.
And I haven't got to do much for programme pen-pics/history. Which is nice.

Re: FA Cup fever!
Chelmsford have had a pretty ordinary September with their only wins coming in home cup matches against Ramsgate and Weymouth. They saw the worst of us back in August so I fancy our chances. Will be a real pain if it's a draw as they're one of those clubs whose bright idea is to play on Mondays.

Re: FA Cup fever!
Surely FA Cup rules will change that? I ask in desperation as it'll be unlikely I can make a Monday game.
Ash is right. I look forward to the hoards of Chelmsford scouts popping up at Cheddar. Throw the first team in and pick up that £5 cheque, stuff the few thousand we could make on the Saturday.

Re: FA Cup fever!
I've heard they're very fond of cave matured cheeses in Chelmsford so there's extra incentive for them to scout that game.

Re: FA Cup fever!
Our luck with home draws seems to be changing. I was about to ask Junior when was the last time we had 3 consecutive home draws in the cup, but thought it would be quicker to find out myself...
07/08 Torquay
08/09 Clevedon, Aylesbury.
The last time it happened in the same season was 96/97... Newport, Cirencester, Cheltenham (hopefully not an omen, as that led to the disastrous replay at Whaddon Road)
And since someone is bound to ask, we've had 4 consecutive home draws in the same season 3 times in our history... 13/14, 22/23, 85/86
On the last occasion we hosted Taunton, Clevedon, Exmouth and Croydon (eventually getting knocked out in that forgettable day at Peterborough)

As Comrade says they saw the worst of us. Hopefully we can give them a proper game this time.

Re: FA Cup fever!
It's also our first FA Cup meeting with Chelmsford since 14th November 1987. One week after my 2nd birthday.
We won 2-1 at New Writtle Street in a 1st round tie, goals from Dave Payne and Martyn Grimshaw.
Eventually exited to Mansfield in round three and were relegated a few months later.

I'm the stats man around here, Junior...
This will be the 8th cup tie we've had with an Essex club, winning 4 (including one of our league scalps)
But the last 3 were against Dagenham, East Thurrock and Harlow...
