And at least we have NYD off.
Usually pencil in Havant away for a break as well, but if their pitch is waterlogged in August they need help.

That's a tough start I think. 2 promoted teams still up for it and Chelmsford.

Yep I was surprised, but I think we can make the most of it (1000BC team meeting tomorrow to look at fixtures list and plan Community Day, student day etc.).
It's the first match of the season, should be good weather, they will bring loads - if we do a big promotional push, hopefully it will mitigate the effect of it being a Tuesday rather than a Saturday.

Is there a new date for the game at Weston yet?
Seriously though, did think the Chipp games would be Boxing Day/New Year or perhaps August BH/Easter. I am sure there will be good crowd on the Tuesday but I expect quite a few from both clubs will be on holiday which will make a difference. I am sure the season could start a couple of weeks later without there needing to be too many more midweek games.

I feared that Chippenham would get Hungerford for Christmas (which they have), and suspected that Gloucs might go to Ox City. But I never imagined that they'd pair Poole and Truro up for the festives!
That's what's lumbered us with a ruined footballing Christmas again! Bah!

They might've thought that two big rivals playing so close together could provoke two, let's say lively, matches. The Hungerford ones seem to have a bit of edge and there was no previous history.
By pairing us with Weston such a problem won't happen, as the return fixture will be about six weeks after Boxing Day.
Gloucester on the Bank Holiday games is ok. Chippenham would have been better then, perhaps.

Firstly congrats to Gerry. You can collect your prize from me at Bognor!
Weston always looked our most likely Xmas/NY opponents and it's better to have a wasted journey there in the middle of winter than some other places.
Other positives...
Better balance to last season when we had several consecutive homes and away
Not many scheduled trips for cup/trophy dates, although Chelmsford away must be in jeopardy
Truro away should get played first time.
We don't go to Eastbourne in mid winter for once.
And best of all - Chipp first home fixture. Ok it could have been a Saturday but I feared it would be one of the bank holidays, which are rarely well supported. Should be an excellent gate.
