If City could score another we would be 6th in the league, currently 8th, only 3 points off the top.

Dogged win without being totally convincing. More physicality in City this season makes us a bigger threat at attacking set pieces and several times the ball just didn't drop. Also makes us stronger at the back and for all their possession late in the game Stortford didn't really create much. Watkins pulled up in first min. Great shame as he cd have had a field day. Hunter at his frustrating best today. Sub for Watkins so got whole game. Often beat his man but also often took wrong option. Great shift by Ball my MOM. Everywhere at back and got forward down left. Wins build confidence and on we go.

It was a terrible game. Chances were few and far between for both sides, but in a rare moment of quality Morgan linked well with Diallo to plant an emphatic shot across the keeper into the far top corner of the net. After that it was about hanging on and not making a crucial mistake at the back. There were a few moments when the space looked like it was opening up, but a mixture of luck and resolute defending meant Phillips was not really tested. I'm sure the strong wind didn't help the quality of the game, but we will need to play better to keep this little run going.

Sounds like the sort of game we would have lost not so long ago - important that we can pick up points on days when we don't play so well.

Too right. Could be we're turning the corner at least. I'm feeling fairly optimistic at the moment.LB wrote:Sounds like the sort of game we would have lost not so long ago - important that we can pick up points on days when we don't play so well.

Blooming British summer time. Didn't go to Stortford cos it's the cricket season, did the toss (won, elected to field) then it bucketed down all afternoon and not a single ball was bowled!
Sounds like a good win, I think we'd have all taken 9 points from these 5 games, decent start.

The margins of error are so small at this stage of the season, that if we'd not conceded that last minute goal at Margate in our first game we'd be second in the table!

Gary Owers asked me for the final scores after Truro last Tuesday. I said surely he wouldn't need to as they receive updates in the dugout.
I laughed quite loudly at my brilliant humour. He politely half-smiled.

Excellent commentary from you Junior, the stray clearance incident did not seem to faze. Thanks for your efforts.
