On our way to Lincoln...

Who remembers it?

I remember it was baking hot.

Not as much about the game as we lost so many that season that they all blur into one.

It was! Temperature didn't touch the levels of Torhout, Welling or Stevenage but they were in July and August. Lincoln was the warmest so late in the year.

According to my coach list for that trip only Sean Kitson and Yuffie are not in the photo. I'm guessing Sean was showing him how to use the camera...

I can remember it being really hot in Thame as well. Another depressing defeat.

I know I was the only one one in the bar after the game!
Evidently we were not allowed in so I was surrounded by stewards.....there were no home fans in there either.
Bizarre.

Not what I recall, Kermy. Straight after the match I returned to the coach to be confronted by their head steward demanding that we leave immediately. I asked why and was told we would be a target for their hooligans. He ignored my protest that we were due to leave at 1710 and instructed me to get our fans out of the bar. On refusing he sent another steward to round you up.
Of course there were no hooligans - the stewards had clearly decided they could clock off early if they could send us home. And of course Lincoln ignored my letter of complaint. Typical of many of the clubs in that division!

Well, I sat with my pint of Batemans surrounded by stewards and was told the coach was leaving immediately.
I told them it leaves at 17.10, and at 17.05 I supped up and ambled to the coach.
We drove out the ground with stewards lining both sides of the road protecting us from invisible hooligans.
All the Lincoln fans I met that day were very friendly. Shame that all the officials were aggressive.

Apart from the football that was a good day out. Lincoln is a lovely city to have a wander round.

Guess I was lucky not to be thrown out for taking this photo.
