Re: Brazil are not worthy
yes, i do. i'm the last person on here to defend england players, especially those with liverpool connections!
despite the pathetic antics of marcelo and co this past month, the one thing currently plaguing our game has been almost absent from the WC - the howling for a pen whenever the ball is blasted against an arm.

yes the consequence of this ridiculous habit is manifested in defenders attempting to defend with their arms behind their back. defending is becoming a lost art.

I wonder what happened to goal line technology during the world cup. during the group stages there was one close-ish demonstration in every game. in the knock out stages I can't remember one. has everyone been so bowled over by the disappearing foam that goal line technology is old hat?

It's weird, if I did that whilst playing I'd fall over about 20 times a game.
Was priceless how everyone went ballistic over Benzema's goal on the technology, saying they still weren't sure if it had crossed the line. It's 100% accurate for goodness sake. Pearce on BBC1 should have been sacked for his reaction to the whole thing, was embarrassing.

I think that Mascherano's excellent last-ditch tackle in the final minutes of normal time contradicts that view.

One tackle from an entire world cup? I like your approach to statistics.

Defending has certainly become a lost art as far as this Brazilian rabble are concerned! Big Phil showed he's a stubborn fool by including the dire Luiz again last night, who repaid his manager with that laughable headed clearance leading to the unmissable goal by Blind. Still, the kids shouting out their national anthem were impressive...

Well, as I am sure that you know, there were many more excellent tackles - even one from David Luiz, as I remember. Indeed, I thought that, without the introduction of some novelty new rule, the tackling and defending was actually very good through much of the tournament.
