THEOnly Game OFF Nationally?
what's going on?Weston the only game off on Boxing Day. says a lot. I hope the Club are going to raise with the league. I suspect not though in the brethren of struggling football Clubs but the fans travelled and some players travelled some distance.
It's not right!

Crazy! We haven't had hardly any rain lately. They need to sort there pitch out - at this rate they won't be playing many matches at home this winter.

Re: THEOnly Game OFF Nationally?
To look on the bright side, it wasn't our home match off. We've seen already how poorly supported Tuesday evening games are and we certainly can't afford to lose any more afternoon games. So fingers crossed for Sunday and NY Day. But our run to Wembley will cause problems - our scheduled league fixtures for the next 2 rounds are away, but the next 4 are all at home...
But obviously feel very sorry for those fans who made a wasted journey today. Luckily I got the dreaded text from A36 just as I was leaving home.

Thanks for letting me know.....I looked at the pitch and whilst it was a bit soggy in places, I thought it was playable. Mind you, frogs quite like moist ground!comrade powell wrote:But obviously feel very sorry for those fans who made a wasted journey today. Re: THEOnly Game OFF Nationally?
Bloody rubbish. We were actually saying that the match couldn't be called off that late in the day and then we got turned away from the car park. Serves them right if they don't get anyone there at the re-arranged Tuesday match. I certainly won't bother.
To add insult to injury, we ended up caught in motorway traffic and then I reluctantly agreed to try for the game against Yeovil at Ashton Gate and it was sold out. Ended up at the Hop Pole via a 2 hour detour.

Re: THEOnly Game OFF Nationally?
They've had three home matches called off thus far and we haven't hit the really bad winter weather yet.
The stadium is just over 10 years old, did they know in advance that there could be problems with drainage? I know for some games for them it makes little difference if they're off or not - one was against Whitehawk I think so it probably dropped the attendance from 150 to 130 or something.
Oh well, I had no intention of going there anyway, it'd basically need to be a title decider before I set foot in that place again. I had much more fun losing money on the horses at Wincanton.

Are there any grounds left in this league that you'll set foot in?

I certainly won't be going there on a Tuesday night, they will not be getting any more money from me. Weston Super Shambles. Turned around at Blagdon and went to Paulton 2 v Chippenham. A few others there including Adie and Jim Rollo. Pitch bad but just about managed to complete game, Ian Harvey sent off.

Should be Paulton 2 - Chippenham 1.

Re: THEOnly Game OFF Nationally?
Britton and Rollo were at Paulton? Was Rollo standing up all the time and Britton didn't move from his seat? Did Adie blame Chippenham's goal on Stearn losing possession last week? Did they find any other strikers for us?

Paulton game was very entertaining, though the sending off looked harsh from my angle.

Of course, everyone leaves off the second part of the quote
"“Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit… but the highest form of intelligence.”"

Well, you learn something new every day but I think there's probably a reason for leaving off the second part ...

Re: THEOnly Game OFF Nationally?
Surely somebody in authority needs to be asking the question of whether they can fulfil thier fixtures if their pitch can't stand up to the modest amount of rain we had yesterday?!

You forgot to mention that Howells was at that game too. Though as usual nobody could see him.......

Re: THEOnly Game OFF Nationally?
Wow, a thread about the weather is turned into abuse about the management..

Re: THEOnly Game OFF Nationally?
I think constructive criticism of the management concerning our team is justified if it follows a poor performance, something mentioned in the media, a poor signing etc. But I agree with Grumpy that it's hardly relevant to this thread and doesn't reflect well on the forum. Can we please resist the temptation to take cheap shots at the management or the mods will have to do some moderating...
Thanks!
Thanks!

I thought this was very funny. My daughter just came in to find out what I was laughing about.

I would have thought the pitch succumbed to a piffling quantity of rain. Suggests the pitch is not fit for purpose.

Re: THEOnly Game OFF Nationally?
Of course it wasn't relevant. It was patently a joke. You know, like they have on The Morecambe And Wise Christmas Show or Only Fools And Horses. Anyway, contractually, I have to have a moan about the management and I won't let's pesky detail like no game get in the way.
Anyway, it's Britton and Howells' fault. They decided not to start Stearn again yesterday. I expect they will have some pathetic excuse.
