Strong team with Artus, Ball, Kington and McCootie starting. Walsh up front.

Bit annoyed with the delay of announcing the team on City's website - I assumed we'd be playing Jim and the academy lads as in 1st round. If I'd known it was as strong a line up, I might have gone to watch as I'm not a million miles from Twerton Park. If there'd been an indication earlier on from the club, they might have got a few more bums on seats.....would have been good to see how the seniors and academy lads would have got on together.

Doesn't matter who's playing, it's still Bath City.Dusty Lynfield wrote:Bit annoyed with the delay of announcing the team on City's website - I assumed we'd be playing Jim and the academy lads as in 1st round. Club Twitter has 128, could be Shane's cold fingers failing him!
In other results, Yeovil edged out Hengrove 13-0.

Re: City v Shepton
Not really a performance to remember given the reasonable strength team and Shepton can probably feel a bit unlucky not to have take the game to extra-time at least.
However, it was perfect for getting Walshy back on the pitch, along with game time for McCootie, Allen, Artus and Kington. And it also moves Jimmer to within 20 games of the 500 mark.

About 4 or 5 years of unbeaten Somerset cup football and he should be there then...

Re: City v Shepton
There's a very real appearance that some of the players think they are too good for a game like this. They were strolling around as if they were Man City not Bath City.
Shepton scored a cracking goal and gave the defence a few scares and at one stage it looked like they were building up for a win. But we just had enough to see us through.
Some of the youngsters are good on the ball and gave us a bit of impetus that was lacking at times.
There is something very strange about Bath City players. They cannot head the ball. If the ball was in the air it was always a Shepton head got on the end of it. Although Walshy had some joy later on with balls played out in his direction by the goalie.
Having said that we scored from two headers which I suppose is when it matters.

I think Shepton could beat Man City at the moment...
It didn't go to extra-time which made it a very satisfactory evening.

Being Joe Burnell I guess he was injured.

Only three players done in excess of 500!yuffie wrote:....And it also moves Jimmer to within 20 games of the 500 mark.
Needs 8 to pass Tony Book. If he makes that he will be the 4th highest 'appearer'.
Testimonial time surely?!

I think Jim turned down the idea of a testimonial while he was still playing, which was a couple of years ago. I mean he turned down the idea a couple of years ago!

Maybe this new millionaire backer can buy the 'Fan's View' name for me, and the club!
