Delayed en route to get disruptive Millwall fans off heading to Bristol City

Re: Welling game
Amazing that we have 400+ season ticket holders. I looked for Billy Joel tickets last week. They started at £170 so a football season ticket represents excellent value.

Ugly 1-0 win, take it. They missed big chance, Scotty took ours. Defence fine, Harvey had little to do. Need to fine some fluency. Sol a little frustrated. Need to use him more, not solely Euan.

Thought we did OK. 3 pts is pts. Ref did well, certainly didn't fall for the fake cockneys BS. Their fans were entertaining. City's back 4 were quality. Ben Morgan and Jack Batten - what a partnership. Looking forward to a Lateral / Russe partnership in the middle.

Re: Welling game
Very scrappy game. When Junior announced that Scotty had scored on 33 minutes we all looked at each other with one expression, it felt like the game had actually been dragging on for much longer.
There was a general lack of urgency from Welling after that and despite never getting out of second gear we just about deserved the win. I thought we were poorly served by our wide men today and Alvez looked far sharper when he came on. The defence is solid, and Wilson is putting in a shift but overall we struggled with Welling's pressing game. Thought the ref had a good game but Welling supporters and presumably the manager saw it differently.

Well said. I can’t believe this is the same Morgan who looked all at sea twelve months ago against Dartford and Weston. Mind, I’ve never seen a clearance like his early one not only sail over the Pop cover but also the houses behind!
I’m not usually one to criticise officials but at times today there seemed to be a breakdown in communication between them. I’m keen to see the footage of that late penalty claim - my view at the time was that it was nailed on. But that doesn’t excuse Welling’s poor discipline in the latter stages.
I believe we had this Somerset based ref for the game at Taunton last season - fair enough for a derby. But was it wise to appoint her against a SE club? Welling have latched on to the fact that she has connections with our sponsors - in fact she studied at Bath Spa some years ago but even so it’s not a good look.

Ben defended very well. His distribution was not always A1.
We could have had 3 extra goals - they missed a sitter.

That was never a 4 1 to us game, we must had been watching a different game. We need Russe and Smith back as our midfield has been cut through far too easily 2 games on the trot now but we have admittedly had 2 tough teams and got 3 points from them so I am happy with that.

It seems most matches in this league gave been fairly close affairs so far. Interesting though that after 2 games there is no team with 2 points

Re: Welling game
Funny old game football. Morgan looked decent. Who'd have thought he'd have played for us again and have 2 blinders. Was stunned she didn't give that penalty. Luck evens itself out so will take that bit of luck. Maybe footage will prove he dived. But I was right in line and couldn't believe she played on. Always nice to get 1st victory of the season out the way. Can't expect fluent football this early. Clark lost the ball a lot but his eagerness to have a go constantly is impressive. Maybe tried to hard yesterday and frustration got to him. Always keeps full backs on their toes and he'll skin many a defender this season. UTC.

I thought it was a dive but wouldn't have been surprised if it was given.
However to suggest the ref could be biased is despicable.

Think bath fans need some context on the situation. One of our fans who is 18 had a bath fan come up to him and mutter that his mum was a slag, our radio commentator almost punched by a steward. Any normal fan would be suspect of a ref who has connections to the front of shirt sponsor to a club, so it's rather strange that people are saying it's weird to call out a possible bias

Just to clarify, Ben, I wasn’t suggesting she was biased. I always hate it when fans chant ‘cheat’ at the officials. But I think the NL was mistaken in asking one from the same county to officiate our game - it certainly didn’t used to happen.

I wouldn't be. I have never doubted the sincerity of any ref or umpire. They may not be very good but if you doubt the integrity of the officials then sport is doomed.

Alex, I hope the two people from Welling have reported the incidents to our club as I'm sure if true our board will be determined to ensure there's no repeat. We pride ourselves on offering a warm welcome to visiting fans. I have attended games between our two clubs, home and away, since the very first and cannot remember any friction before yesterday.
As always, I'm looking forward to visiting Park View Road in December (following an hour or two in my favourite pub - Robin Hood and Little John, Bexleyheath!)

Alex, was the steward 'almost punching our radio commentator' incident around ten minutes after the match at the bottom of the pitch, please? Thanks.

Is that the umber of STs this year - over 400 ? A decade ago our average gate wasn't much higher than that.

Re: Welling game
As Comrade Powell says...... I too am appalled by what Alex S says.........if indeed true.
I have also been to numerous games between the two sides both at TP and PVR and never witnessed any animosity.
Yesterday pre match we mingled happily in the Royal Oak.
In Weiiing we have enjoyed meeting up in the Robin Hood, Door Hinge and of course Spoons without any issues.
Whilst not wishing to doubt the complaints from Alex S, I am totally shocked if it really happened without some genuine cause from our side.
