Name-dropper !
Twerton Park got a mention tonight during the England v Holland match on ITV
.
After Vardy scored his goal the commentator referred to the fact that it was four years ago. . . . . . . almost to the day that Vardy scored for Fleetwood against Bath City at Twerton Park.

Lets hope it brings people out of the woodwork for the remaining home fixtures

That result relegated us I think. I remember a couple of days later someone saying they left at half-time because the guy up front was tearing us apart and our players weren't trying. Sigh.

It was probably someone like McNulty. I can't see him messing around at the back.

And on the highlights prog, suggesting Twerton Park wasn't like Wembley! , well I know where I'd prefer to watch City play at.....Wembley.

Well, the refereeing must have made Vardy think he was back in the Conference.

Great to get a national mention like that, but sadly I doubt it would have any direct impact impact on attendances. It should help with general awareness though - I wonder how many people in Bath have never heard of Twerton Park (the number who don't know we have a football club is surprisingly high) ?

I sais to my wife (who wasn't listening) at half time that the ref was the same as what we appear to get at TP - the opposite of homers. Awayers doesn't sound right.

Re: Name-dropper !
If you mean the Jagielka falling over because he isn't strong enough then the ref's decision was correct.

Go on then I'll bite.
I'm sure when a Welsh defender* gets assaulted and England score from it then it will be because he wasn't strong enough.
*I would name one but the only Wales players I can think of off the of my head are Gareth Bale, Paul Bodin and ... umm, Robbie Savage.

That's an assault?! Come on, I don't even have to do the "Wouldn't have even been a yellow card in my day" but it would be let go in the EPL, let alone further down. Not only that but I have been well behind many English supporters in stating that. No prejudice required.

mmm I suppose you can say what you like without needing evidence to back it up. But a shove like that would be penalised at any level.

Shove in the back, not shoulder to shoulder = foul.

Re: Name-dropper !
No, not for me. The Dutch player's shoulder is what is used to push Jagielka and his arm doesn't come up until Jagielka's on his way down so it isn't a shove. The impact was to the back of Jagielka's shoulder not his back. By my reading of the laws, that is fine and there is, at least, one case of a similar incident going unpunished when Ashley Williams did it on Wayne Rooney in August. I wouldn't be surprised if someone can come up with an incident that is similar where it was punished but there is enough room for interpretation to say that many refs would let it go not least in the Premiership. It certainly wasn't an "assault" and wasn't even a "shove in the back" The only thing that doesn't make it straight forward is that it was side of the shoulder to back of the shoulder.

Re: Name-dropper !
The 'assault' comment was tongue in cheek I should point out. Just like I would hope the one about him falling over because he wasn't strong enough was.
So the Dutch player used his shoulder to shove Jagielka to the floor rather than his arm - doesn't make it any less of a foul. And I think the only thing that doesn't make it straight forward was the ref didn't give the foul. Had he then it would have hardly even warranted a mention post match.
Anyway, if Pratty 'assaults' a 'weak' Chelmsford defender on Saturday to set up our winning goal I'm all for clueless refs.
