Help us to boost attendances
The Bid is pleased to announce that we will be partnering with the club to launch the 1000BC initiative. This will be a supporter-led drive to increase attendances over time to an average of 1000.
We are looking for a team of dedicated supporters to come up with, prioritise and implement ideas that will help the club reach new audiences and increase our profile in the city.
We look forward to hearing everyone's ideas. We've initially identified the following areas as a starting point for discussion:
- A systematic approach to getting posters out in the city
- Targeted campaign for students
- Media liaison with local radio & print media
- Street stalls & fan walk / "march to the match"
If you have ideas but can't commit the time, please feel free to submit them below or via a PM. We will provide regular updates of which ideas are being worked on and what progress is being made.
This is a great opportunity to help our club and show how community ownership can work in practice.
This will likely involve a monthly or bimonthly meeting starting in December. If you are interested in getting involved, please PM me (OliverH).
[Dear mods - please sticky this, it's an official Bid communication]

Re: Help us to boost attendances
Ah, I thought 1000BC was some new film about Ancient Rome, Roman Bath, or somewhere else less interesting than Twerton. Would you consider changing name of this thread to 'Boosting Attendances?
So why is it 'fan-led'? Why do we not read of BCFC Board, Supporters Club and Community Ownership Bid Team working together to boost attendances?
Really, this whole exercise is becoming a bit of a joke - please, please, tell us what is going on at this Football Club we love. It's a bit like asking someone to marry you and the answer is always 'maybe', 'some day' which as likely as not turns into Never.
I wonder how many of the players and supporters will be arriving at Margate tonight in a cold, wet gale and wondering 'What's the Point?'

Re: Help us to boost attendances
Yes happy if mods want to change thread name to "Help us to boost attendances"
1000BC is indeed the Bid team and the club board working together to boost attendances (the Supporters Club is more than welcome to get involved too!).
This requires ideas and involvement from volunteer supporters. We already have 10-12 people expressing interest. Watch this space.

The team seems to prefer playing in front of tiny crowds.

Perhaps I should have said 'at home'.

Re: Help us to boost attendances
First six home games the lowest attendance we played in front of was 648, miles up on last season's average. Bar Basingstoke we played pretty well in all of them.

Re: Help us to boost attendances
Actually looking at attendances they have held up pretty well throughout the season. My impression had been that the early season enthusiasm was drifting away - and that is wrong. Be interesting to see how it holds up after yesterday.
Personally I would love to see attendances up around the 1K mark and I fully appreciate the efforts of the boost team. I am just expressing what I think they must feel after yesterday's spectacle. One step forward two steps back.
