Good start to the season. Has Coupey's signing been an inspiration?

Looking forward to Tuesday night.

And with Davies I've heard no one say they miss Stearn.

Another backs to the wall performance today with our well drilled defence frustrating a very ordinary home team. On that showing, the person bankrolling that lot is not getting value for money. Whitehawk's desperation was highlighted by the deserved dismissal of their mouthy centre back who swore his head off all the way to the changing room. Suffice to say, the world's nicest manager was not impressed!

Yes, I think it's fair to say that after three matches Coupe has made a great impact, as have the other new faces. Also McCootie seems to be playing with far more intelligence while Pratt was a constant menace to the home defence.

Away wins against two clubs in the play offs is some achievement and the team deserves a good crowd on Tuesday.

Great win today. Super save (again) from Steve Phillips. Looked like an OG from behind the goal - sorry Nick. Such a shame that Rose was sent off, he was such a gentleman, like his manager!
Roll on Tuesday.

According to Wikipedia the delightful Justin Jordan Rose was on our books in 2010 on a dual registration whilst with Paulton.

For Yuffie and Stillman's benefit - the bench is a lot less animated Very Happy

Thoroughly enjoyed my first away trip and indeed first league game of the season. Work is getting in the way of City far too much!

Sam Stevens has provided the Chronicle a fantastic match report, so I'm not competing with that. I have put up a small piece looking at the ground and our three new players who have made a big difference.

It's maybe a bit unfair on not mentioning Davies and Williams, who have both come in and done really well. They'll be featured soon!

three out of three Empty Jordan Rose

Post by Manchester Romans Sun Aug 16, 2015 11:37 am

When Jordan Rose broke into the Stockport first team (still in the League at the time) and started receiving rave reviews, I remember feeling gutted that we'd let a future star slip through our hands. It seems from his wikipedia page that his is a sad tale of promise unfulfilled.

We were discussing the same today. Obviously, the difference presently is that Davies is starting every game and has only missed two minutes playing time do far. Neither scored in their first three games so I am not entirely sure that there is a huge amount of difference. Obviously, this does mean that we won't be missing Stearn presently but does it mean that Davies is better than Stearn. I hope so but the jury is out until we are a few more games in.

From what I've seen in the three games, they are very different players and comparisons are pointless. To be honest, I thought Davies had a very quiet game creatively yesterday, but was an important part of a disciplined team performance.

Yes it has although we all knew it needed someone like him to come in and lets say, galvanise things a bit. Nicholson's signing probably just as 'inspirational'.
However, losing Coupey doesn't seem to have harmed Chippnum as they have also got off to a flyer winning all 3 matches so far.

I was sorry to see Coupey go but he was squeezed out by the Preece/Tindle combination, along with the need to trim the wage bill no doubt! Good to see there's life in the old dog yet! Hopefully both clubs can keep the momentum going.

Do you think you can keep hold of Sandell? With all due respect I'm sure he could do better than the Southern League, certainly made an explosive start.

I think Sandell is now the Commercial Manager as well so I would expect him to stay for a while, but I was very surprised Chippenham managed to sign him in the first place.

I heard something about him owning horse stables, and wishing to play part-time so he could look after the horses. Is this nonsense? If it is true, when will he do the commercial work?

If some of the pitches are still like they were when we were Southern League, he could probably allow them to have a little gallop on them before games. Would make an improvement.

Well the donkeys did us proud tonight. 3-1 winners at Poole. To answer a previous post, Andy Sandell's partner has the stables (show-jumping horses I think?) and they're expanding the operation so he wants to be locally based. Not sure Hartlepool was that attractive. Wink

Excellent result for us both tonight. I wouldn't fancy facing Chippenham in the cups...

City, Chippenham and FGR all with 100% records, something stirring in the west country...but not at Ashton Gate !

Our 1-0 defeat against their first team in pre-season is starting to look like a poor result...
