Hallen FC Friendly Away
Hallen AFC @HallenFC 10:40pm Jul 9
@BathCity_FC hope you are looking forward to our friendly on Saturday week. Will many of your supporters be making the short journey?

@HallenFC Of course! Always tricky to tell with friendlies, but I'm sure a few Romans will travel along.

@BathCity_FC great stuff, BBQ arranged and only £2 on the gate. Kids are free.
Currently the met office weather forecast is for a dry sunny day so chance to top up the tan.

Re: Hallen FC Friendly Away
Interesting club, Hallen. Been in the local news a bit lately, too.
Early on in the closed season they claimed that they would have to fold, as Almondsbury council were going to evict them - despite the club having originally built their ground up from a ploughed field before the council took it on.
The council then counterclaimed that the never did anything of the sort, before the Armadillos (great nickname!) first threatened to squat in the premises, then apparently found an old covenant that suggested they could play at the ground in perpetuity.
It's still all a bit tense between them and the council - who incidentally were dubbed "the richest council in Britain" after a good bit of business they did flogging off some allotments - so it could be interesting to hear some of the locals stories about it all on Saturday.
I will warn anyone going though that Hallen itself - and the ground in particular - is a pig to find, and satnav will most probably send you right around the houses. So plan your route in advance.
Beer fans may also be gladdened to hear that the King William IV on the village crossroads is a pretty nice old pub - although I couldn't vouch for its ales.

We won 3_0.
Mind you, we had to use their goalkeeper as our trialist didn't turn up!

They'll need a top shelf in the programme hut to sell it from!
