Somerset forum remains confident that Maynard can build a strong side, whether it will be this year remains the question.

The start is spookily similar to City's, 2 big defeats, so we still have a 'Thurrock' to look forward to and a semi final bowl out defeat in some indoor net somewhere. Great.

Yes, but you might have a 'Rovers' and win the return at Lord's (sorry, Merchant Taylors) Wink

And so unexpected, but we'll take it.

Surprised to see Notts struggling as I tipped them for top 3. Some good performances for your boys but top order needs to improve quickly.

Also surprised that it has taken several innings before Compton got his first ton.

Decent draw against Yorkshire this week.

With all the build up it wouldn't surprise me at all if Gayle gets a duck tomorrow!

Stranger things have happened, like Middx strolling to a T20 win tonight. Kent must be truly awful....

I watched a bit of their win at Hampshire on Friday and they looked quite good. Lords slope did them?

Decent crowd of over 13,000 at Lords for Kent, while we will be heading to a school.......

Cant see us being at Lords for a while for a championship game, ageing, out of form, blinkered captain, mediocre batting line up, promising but inexperienced bowlers = relegation.

This report of today's play rather backs that up, Gerry...

Bas went and sounded really despondent.

Great win for Somerset today! Notts need booting all the way home for chucking that one away. I think half the division are in real danger of relegation this season with Worcs still clear favourites.

What a win and a contrary team Somerset are, and what a cock up by Notts.

And the Overtons don't risk injury at Trent Bridge!
Team England will be the ruin of county cricket...

No point the Overtons being there. Could they not introduce a substitution system into county cricket? So if, say, Jamie Overton was playing for Somerset and then an injury meant he had to play for England they could bring another player in.

Obviously the replacement would have to be a similar player (to avoid subbing in a batsman when chasing a win etc) and could only be used for international call ups but it would mean players not just sitting and watching England as 12th man.

Or we're gonna pray it rains hard enough to stop superior teams beating us! Very annoying, but at least I didn't go today, unlike poor Bas....

His big 100 club win will be some consolation ! Going to the Oval on Friday evening, having some hospitality in case Somerset serve up another stinker !

In our quest to stay up there with Yorkshire, Mx have set you to make 214 in 40. Surely you won't bottle that....
