Prospects of play

Post by comrade powell on Sat Feb 22, 2014 9:51 am

as we enter the season of frost, snow and waterlogged pitches, i'm creating this thread so that announcements from the club can be posted about the chances of games going ahead etc. it can be very helpful for fans to know the likelihood of a match being on. we'll also try to keep people informed about away fixtures.

i'm not going to keep it locked but would ask posters to only post sensible comments and questions. and can we also just use this thread rather than starting new ones along the lines of "it's snowing here in odd down and i reckon the game at gateshead will be off!"

of course, should there be a definite announcement on a game (off or on) from the home club there will be an announcement on here.

thanks!

please note that posts referring to a particular fixture will be removed once it is played/postponed - this is to ensure everyone knows which game we are talking about!

I understand that Q was speaking to OCFC today about a possible pitch inspection. Hopefully it will be early enough to allow travel plans to be cancelled if necessary. Of course they may be minded to leave it until as late as possible to get maximum benefit from tomorrow's sunshine. From memory, I don't think any of the pitch is in the shade, so fingers crossed.

Not convinced about the 'if it's inconclusive' bit. Like they're covering themselves for when it's called off at 2.59

Rain and Weston ends in one conclusion. It's why I never plan to travel there from distance.

I hope I'm wrong but a10.30 inspection suggests it's already heavily waterlogged.......

A Tuesday night in the Spring.........

We all know it'll be 'on' after the 10.30 inspection, but after they've fleeced us in their bar the match ref will call it off, as Ashley says, at 14.59.
Still, why break from tradition I say.

News on the website that I think might make them less keen to get the game on ...

A great signing, but surely we must be close to/exceeding the limit of loans we are allowed at the club?

Not that he will make his debut tomorrow, I'm sure. Play the league and SPC as a double header or something.

I am absolutely gobsmacked. WHAT a surprise!!!!!

WSM will not have my cash. The THREE previous wasted journeys are quite sufficient.

My sincere apologies to the team.

I was wrong. Convinced it would be off now. Maybe their 'forkers' are now at work.

Presume 1 pm is set off time for players?

Our guys will be on the way by then. 1.30 is normal arrival time at away grounds I think. Hopeless indecision by WSM.

This is pathetic from the Mud. The players normally arrive 90 minutes before the game, so they will have already left home a long time before then to get there (not sure if there is a team coach). Supporters coach leaves Radstock at 11.50, Twerton Park at 12.15. Very unhelpful.

Not sure why anyone is surprised. I'm not going anyway, fourth time in five seasons I'll give this game a miss. I always make alternative plans on the date of the original game.

That said, I'll be at the SPC game in a few weeks. Weather permitting.

Apparently they need some sand to put on the worst parts of the pitch to try and get the game on, but at the moment they are stood around trying to think where they might find some.
