1. On the gate the incomprehension of Rovers supporters when they were told there's no away end and no segregation; you can go where you like. I smiled sweetly and bid them 'welcome to the non-league'.

2. 3.02pm approximately. The ball bounces across the car park as two late commers approach the gate. One turned to the other and said 'Rovers' and after a short pause as their eyes followed the ball 'Nothing ever changes'.

re observation 1 - thankfully they don't apply at our level but will at the one Rovers will play in this season.
