It would be a ridiculous idea to have something that would draw more people to drink in the bar afterwards, I suppose

It ought to.
Bath rugby played last night winning by a penalty in the last minute.  So for those Bath rugby supporters who wanted to come to the football at TP today the lure of seeing the Wales - England game straight after would be a very convenient incentive.

The wider question is did our club management make any move on exploiting this?

The 1000BC team, which would be the part of club management responsible for this, has not considered the possibility of using the Six Nations as a way of attracting more people to TP, no. Efforts are currently being focused on Family Day in March.

The rugby question is interesting - on the one hand, attendance analysis suggests a drop of around 100 when the rugby clashes (even if they play on a friday / sunday). However, when we recently ran a promotion offering a discounted ticket to Bristol Rovers, Bristol City and Bath Rugby season ticket holders (Non League Day), about 25 Rovers and 25 city fans took us up on it, but only 2 rugby. So it's difficult to confidently invest resources in attracting Bath Rugby supporters.

I am not sure that showing the 6 Nations would attract anyone new but it could mean that people will stay on in Charlie's to watch the match rather than go to other places, thereby generating extra bar sales. Anyway, as often happens, my time has been managed by someone else and I am now going straight home to watch the second half at home so my original query is moot.

Widening the conversation a bit, I don't think that we should be phrasing questions as "I hope the management..." anymore. We are moving forward in a nascent co-operative manner with volunteer groups such as 1000BC on a learning curve  - with successes on the way to build on - to publicise and market the club and all that is going on at Twerton Park. It isn't a case of "the management" anymore making decisions on their own, it is up to all of us - certainly shareholders - to do all we can. If people have ideas of how to promote the club or attract bigger attendances or more revenue, there are plenty of ways to get their ideas to, for instance, 1000BC to get them considered or to have a hand in making sure these ideas happen themselves.

My query is a case in point - as someone who is on 1000BC, I perhaps should have flagged up that the rugby was on straight after the game and tried to get the game screened and some publicity to that end. However, like all of us, I am a volunteer with many work and family commitments especially in the last couple of weeks. I am also terrible at being confused by kick off times that aren't 3pm on a Saturday. I know that many of 1000BC are also very busy and can't be expected to be across every possibility.

However, I do know that ideas to 1000BC and the Supporters' Society Committee from supporters are all considered very seriously and, if this had been suggested, there would have been discussion to make it work if logistically possible. I did think that there used to be a sticky on here with how to volunteer for various groups or provide suggestions but can't find it now. However, it is easy to get ideas to the committee and/or the 1000BC, not least through Martin Powell who is the fans' representative.

Basically, in some ways, we are all 'the management' now. As such, we all have a ideas, experiences, enthusiasm, ability and expertise that we can provide to the club. We can no longer sit on the sidelines and expect 'the management' to come up with every idea, initiative and plan and complain retrospectively when 'they' don't. WE have to think of the ideas, get them implemented, build on the successes and learn from the mistakes. If those in the supporters' society and/or 1000BC aren't working like people wish then it is up to people to get involved and try to improve those groups and, ultimately, the club.

Aha, how to get in touch with the club with ideas or to volunteer is on the Bath City Supporters Society website. http://www.bathcitysociety.org/volunteer-for-bath-city.html

By the way, I have to say that I have found the club always very open to ideas from supporters even before the Bid as long as they were intending to get them going themselves. The Food Bank initiative that we had a couple of seasons ago, the Romans T-shirts that we did all were carried out in this way.

Just to back up what Marc has said, if anyone has ideas please forward them to me and I will ensure that the relevant people are informed. Of course the club is still being run by the existing board but that doesn't prevent ideas being communicated.
