Wellington match OFF
Shane Morgan has asked me to post that tonight's Somerset Cup match has been postponed due to a frozen pitch.

I think it could have challenged Brislington for coldness...

Re: Wellington match OFF
I decided to go to Man Utd v Hereford. I phoned them up at 6pm, oh yes, match definitely on, got there at 7.35 and saw everyone leaving the ground.

Re: Wellington match OFF
Junior, is Crawley away when we eventually played them in the following close season the record for most postponements? I think this game with Wellington could run and run. I bet it's rearranged for the Tuesday following Sutton...

I understand the Somerset FA have taken on board your previous comments and rearranged it as a pre-season friendly in August.comrade powell wrote:Junior, is Crawley away when we eventually played them in the following close season the record for most postponements? I expect it will be arranged for the Tuesday after the Sutton game and will probably take precedent over the Trophy replay.

Re: Wellington match OFF
They'd make us play it on Xmas Day if they could.
I'm sure that Crawley game was postponed four times. Was scheduled for September and ended up being played in April. Can remember us ringing from Mammoth Mountain in California to find out how we got on.

Re: Wellington match OFF
Although not involving us directly I think the game that was most postponed at TPk was an FA Cup game involving Rovers. I fancy it was v Plymouth but I could be making that up.
We were at home in the cup on the Saturday and they were scheduled to play their game on the Sunday. Come Sunday the Bristol end goalmouth resembled a quagmire of Glasto proportions so it was postponed. This was in the good old days when rearranged fixtures could take place in the week immediately after the original game. But try as they might the game didn't happen that week.
I think we managed to play a league on the next Saturday but by the time their next re-arranged date arrived it'd rained and it was unplayable again. Tons of weston beach were deposited on that goal mouth to dry it out but it wouldn't and it took ages and all the time 'the squatters' continued to bleat about the state of the pitch and how they shouldn't have to play second fiddle to a lowly non-league team. Well Mr Dunford you know what you can do....and they did 10 years later.
I think the saga went on for several weeks with a recurring Tue/Thur its on its off but I think it easily surpassed our game v Crawley.
History lesson over.
