Wonderful gesture from the players!
The Supporters Club has recently been contacted by Gary Owers and Dan Ball to explain that following the disappointment of our cup exit, the players would like to make a gesture of thanks to those who travelled by coach to support them in the first match at Potters Bar by paying for their coach travel to our next away fixture at Ebbsfleet.

Was the coach full for that trip?
If not and to minimise the cost for ALL what about an auction to fill the remaining seats? I won't be able to participate.

I seem to recall we had 40 people on it that day. I like your idea.
As already mentioned a great gesture by the team

A great gesture.
Though has anyone told them there were 1,108 people on the coach....?

I will look forward to that and I appreciate it very much.
It is a lovely gesture and I am sure all the people on the coach that day will agree.

I can't remember this from the players before so it's an incredible gesture. Hopefully it'll be matched with a similar outcome to our last visit at Ebbsfleet...
I think the board funded a coach once at the end of the season but that's it.

Re: Wonderful gesture from the players!
This is a brilliant heart-warming gesture from the team, their staff, and the gaffer. It would have been even better to share the compensation with all those who made the journey there, but I suppose it would be impossible to accurately determine those who didn't travel there on the coach.
As an aside, I strongly recommend coach travel to those who may have waivered due to the initial published fares, as we have enjoyed good discounts on most journeys this season , thanks to the excellent 'sliding scale' system in operation. The best discount so far was indeed that trip to Potter's Bar, when we only paid just over half of the initial price quoted thanks to taking about 40 people that day. No particular day's fares can be fixed in advance using this method of course, but as the season progresses it should be widely known how many are regular passengers, so keep your ears to the ground. The more people that travel regularly, the more likely the fares will be in the 'comfort zone' of all City fans. For what it is worth, if I am ever in a position of authority in the exciting future we are now facing, the subject of subsidised away match travel will be near the top of my agenda of topics to pursue - but we have to get the Club's finances back on an even keel first.

To back up what Steve is saying, I post updates on the sliding scale payments in the Supporters Club section of the forum. So far...
Margate - 30 paid - advertised fare £34 - fare charged £26 - saving £8
Bish - 27 paid - advertised fare £32 - fare charged £28 - saving £4
Poole - 26 paid - advertised fare £27 - fare charged £25 - saving £2
Hemel - 24 paid - advertised fare £31 - fare charged £30 - saving £1
Potters Bar - 42 paid - advertised fare £31 - fare charged £18 - saving £13

Re: Wonderful gesture from the players!
The Potters Bar 41 have been contacted and given the opportunity to take up the offer, along with others who have supported the coach travel this season. There are 11 spaces left on the Ebbsfleet coach, which is now being advertised...

Are the players subsidsing the coach or the fans who went on the coach last time?
i.e. are the additional spaces (over and above the 41) free?
