Truro V City

Post by 2weirdtown on Tue Mar 15, 2016 4:14 pm

I presume tonight is on, there being no rain, plagues of locusts or showers of frogs in Cornwall today?

I presume it is still on and I would like to pass on my admiration to the three hardy stalwarts who are going by car to support our team.

and the BCIR team (if not those three) as it'll give us the opportunity to listen to a city win

Well said! And it would be good to hear that following the fiasco of the last attempt to play this match that the Truro chairman is offering free admission to any City fans attending.

Hope the improvement can continue tonight even though I guess Watkins won't be playing. No Frankie either.
I see we're doing group hugs before the game nowadays. Perhaps that's the secret cos we never did that under Lee and Adie.

Good to see Pratt back on the scoresheet after his very committed performance v. Ebbsfleet.

We shouldn't be relying on others, but it looks like the other results affecting the strugglers have gone our way. However, we are in big trouble...

Saturday and the WsM games are crucial. 6 points and we could create a decent gap, two defeats doesn't bear thinking about

Poor second half and got what we deserved. In control in the first half and only a good save denied Richards right on HT that would have given us breathing space. But after the break Truro were quicker to every ball and we couldn't keep possession. Phillips foul for the penalty and he was lucky only to get a yellow for pushing a Truro player after the pen had been scored. Second goal came after  Hemmings was penalised (and booked) despite appearing to win the ball but we then switched off from the free kick. Harvey missed a great chance to make it 2-2 but in the last of 5 minutes stoppage time they scored a third which didn't flatter them.

Unless we can quickly take the pressure off with a couple of wins, every game is going to be big. I've been saying for some weeks that this could go right to the wire and it will be down to our chronic lack of goals. Let's hope the latest loanee can deliver some.

And I've just discovered that Weston's game in hand is at home to Basingstoke....

Games in hand don't work like that. Weston have 14 games left. They have been averaging approximately one point per game so you would expect them to finish on 48 points. We have 13 games left. We have been getting a fraction better than one point a game which would give us 51 points.

Although we have been getting a lot of draws we would be better off winning one losing one.

As Comrade says it the lack of goals that's the problem. There have been several games when we are on top the vast majority of the game and don't score or get one at the most. The other team only has a short 5 or 10 minute spell on top but they manage to score in that time.
We must make it count when we are dominating the game or else we will go down.

Basically we are struggling at the front and the back....and the middle. Yet there is still hope, we have some spirit back.
